Zip Zed Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 28, 2026
1. About this policy
Zip Zed respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through the Zip Zed website and newsletters, why we use it, the service providers that may process it, and the choices available to you.
2. Information we collect
Depending on how you use the site, we may collect:
- Your email address when you become a member or subscribe to a newsletter.
- Your name if you choose to provide it.
- The Zip Zed newsletters and publications you choose to receive.
- Your membership, subscription, or access status.
- Information you send to us in a support or privacy request.
- Technical information needed to operate and secure the site, such as IP address, browser or device information, referring page, and server logs.
- Newsletter delivery information, such as whether an email was delivered, opened, or clicked, if the relevant Ghost analytics features are enabled.
- Payment and subscription information if paid memberships are introduced. Payment card details are processed by the payment provider and are not stored by Zip Zed.
We do not ask readers to provide sensitive personal information in ordinary newsletter signup forms. Please do not send sensitive information by email unless we specifically request it through an appropriate secure process.
3. How we use information
We use personal information to:
- Create and manage member accounts.
- Deliver the newsletters and publications a reader has selected.
- Confirm subscriptions and manage newsletter preferences.
- Provide, maintain, and secure the website and membership features.
- Respond to support, privacy, and other requests.
- Understand general readership and newsletter engagement when analytics are enabled.
- Detect abuse, fraud, security incidents, and technical problems.
- Process paid subscriptions if paid memberships are offered.
- Comply with legal, regulatory, accounting, and record-keeping obligations.
We do not sell or rent subscriber email addresses.
4. Newsletters and email choices
Newsletter subscriptions are optional. Readers may choose individual publications and may change their preferences through the account or newsletter-management links provided by the site.
Every newsletter email includes an unsubscribe or preference-management mechanism where required. Unsubscribing from one publication does not necessarily unsubscribe a reader from every other publication they selected.
We may retain a limited record of an unsubscribe or suppression request so that we can respect it and avoid sending unwanted messages.
Zip Zed will follow applicable Canadian email-marketing requirements, including consent, sender identification, and unsubscribe obligations for commercial electronic messages.
5. Service providers
Zip Zed uses third-party services to operate the site and deliver requested services. Depending on which features are enabled, these may include:
- Ghost and Magic Pages: website hosting, member management, newsletter delivery, and related publication functions.
- Stripe: payment processing and subscription billing if paid memberships are enabled.
- Cloudflare or other infrastructure providers: delivery, security, DNS, storage, or technical services where used by Zip Zed.
- Analytics or measurement providers: only where enabled and described in the relevant site settings or notices.
These providers may process information on our behalf or independently under their own terms and privacy policies. We do not control the privacy practices of external websites linked from Zip Zed. Review their policies before submitting information to them.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
The site may use cookies or similar technologies that are necessary for member login, account security, newsletter preferences, and basic site operation.
If optional analytics or other tracking technologies are enabled, this policy and any required consent notice will be updated to describe them. Some privacy-preserving analytics features may operate without cookies, but they can still involve technical or usage information.
7. Retention
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, to maintain suppression and unsubscribe records, to resolve disputes, to maintain security, or to meet legal and accounting obligations.
When information is no longer required, we will delete it, anonymize it, or securely dispose of it where reasonably practicable.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. No internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
If we become aware of a privacy or security incident that requires notification, we will follow applicable legal requirements.
9. Your choices and privacy rights
Depending on applicable law, you may have the right to:
- Ask what personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Request deletion where legally available.
- Withdraw consent for optional processing.
- Unsubscribe from newsletters.
- Ask questions or raise a concern about how your information is handled.
10. Children
Zip Zed is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children through ordinary newsletter signup forms. If you believe a child has provided personal information, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when our services, providers, or legal obligations change. The current version will be posted on this page with its effective date. Material changes will be communicated through the site or by email where appropriate.
